A QR code holds a single address. If you use your App Store URL, Android users land on a page that is useless to them, and vice versa. Best practice is to point to a smart link that detects the device: that is what the Embarq link does.
SVG is vector based: it stays sharp at any size, ideal for print (posters, flyers, packaging). PNG suits slides, social media and emails. For print, aim for at least 2 cm per side with a white margin around it.
Keep strong contrast between the code and the background: a dark colour on a light background. Avoid pale colours (yellow, light grey) that some phones struggle to read. Always test with an iPhone and an Android phone before printing.
